Philippians 2: 9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
The dynamics of earth changed at Calvary. Not only so, the spiritual world beyond us was inextricably altered. Everything related to the fall of man and the curse of sin was place under the feet of the King and, both in heaven and on earth. Calvary is pivotal to human history and to the Divine purpose of God in creation.
Here, in the presence of the Roman guard, between two thieves, as the sun refused to show its light and clouds of darkness loomed heavy in the sky… Here on a hill just outside of Jerusalem, God accepted the sacrifice of Calvary and removed for eternity the sting of human failure.
We yet wrestle with the implementation of this resounding victory, but its end result is not in question; not up for discussion; not being negotiated. The end result is, for we who live in this time, past tense, finished, done! Nothing can be added to it and nothing taken away.
We live in uncertain times in the natural world with economic uncertainty and political conflict, where blame is the message and failure of human plans predictable. We, who follow the King of Kings, seem to do so as the Disciples at the Crucifixion – in hiding and without hope.
The time is ripe for us to catch a renewed view of spiritual reality and to boldly proclaim the message of Christ, in love, in power and in confidence. Let the rules of the kingdoms of this world hear His voice: Jesus is Lord. Let the saints of the living God proclaim – He is the Master of creation and the Lord of eternity.
May we declare ever more as human systems fail and earthly plans reveal their inadequacy.
It’s all in the name of Jesus…
